Half-Way Whole30 Recap

On March 20, 2012 by Juliet

Well guys. The 15 day mark came and went and I didn’t mention it. DOH. I think, however, in honor of officially completing this journey to the half way mark, some celebration is in order.

But before I begin, I want to ask a vital question (and I’m asking it at the beginning so you see it……. those who don’t read to the end…. you know who you are!):

What would you like to see from me in the NEXT two weeks? Any recipe requests? A video? More on training? Does anyone need me to explain anything? ANYBODY?!?!?!!?

Right. Moving on.

RECIPE RECAP FTW! Here are some of the great things I’ve whipped up in the past 2ish weeks:

Cabbage & leeks, chicken legs, and tuna salad

Homemade Fish Sticks

Broiled Salmon, Egg Scramble, and Roasted Bell Peppers

Seafood Stir Fry, Collards, and Ginger Balsamic Reduction

Ghee and most tastey chicken everz

Crock pot chili, Wazil Nut Butter, and Disgusting Mayo (don’t copy this last recipe LOL. It was a #FAIL)

Yuck.

Pulled Pork

Best Chorizo Breakfast, Green Shake

Brisket (served best with cabbage!)

Shredded Brussels Sprouts, Paleo Cereal, Kale, & Meatza

PHEW! I think that pretty much covers the best of what I’ve done. I’m sure there’s something I’ve missed.

All in all, I think this ‘challenge’ has been a very positive experience for me. Food wise, it has forced me to get creative and incorporate some variety. My big secret is that, if I don’t have to photograph all my meals, they’re not only a lot uglier, but a lot more repetitive. It’s my hope to hold on to the few readers I have before this month is out and I feel like 1000x pictures of cabbage will not help me achieve this goal.

Moreover, since last fall, I’ve been struggling a little to figure out how to time my meals, portion without weighing, eat enough, etc. Honestly? I was getting really, really stressed about my eating and over silly things at that. I have been the most stress free these last two weeks than I have been in a long time. I have not weighed a single.bite.of.food. (or myself!) and I feel fantastic.

Mostly, I feel like I could hulk-smash any obstacle right now.

ahaha I am often guilty of eating the same things over and over. I’m forcing myself to be creative now so the internet universe doesn’t judge me too critically LOL

So, do you have a fancy blender to make that green shake? I have a Ninja – but it’s no Vitamix. Whenever I blend up anything with spinach or kale, I end up with tiny green bits in my teeth – very attractive . . . . with that said, I get purple bits from blueberries. Makes it impossible to drink these things anywhere but home so you can brush your teeth afterwards, unless you hate to smile or just don’t mind people staring at your gompers. Take care, love your stuff. Mo

NOPE! I have a cheap blender that leaves many many green bits in my teeth. The trick is to wear a green (or purple) outfit the day you drink them – that way you match.

I’m kidding. I don’t often make shakes at all so it isn’t really an issue for me. Sorry I’m not much more help!
