Announcements and random crap!

Announcement!!

I opened up a Hey Joob store! Why? Because I really wanted to own a Hey Joob shirt, I love my blog, and I love stroking my own ego.

I only have one product so far and it’s kind of stupid. Mostly, I just didn’t want an empty store so I made something up on the spot. I am going to spend the rest of my Sunday wasting time on the interwebz coming up with better designs.

And just so I don’t come off as a total d-bag, it should be said that I am making these more for fun than profit. I mean, I won’t turn down your money (thanks!), but I don’t want to mark them up a lot and, really, I don’t expect people to buy them but me.

I’m cool like that.

OH EM GEE.
I want to make Hey Joob panties.

Other Random Crap

1) I want to hold a design contest but I don’t think I’d get any submissions and then I’d feel stupid. So I’m not. However, if anyone sends me a really killer design, I may send you a free shirt with said design.

Does anyone know any good design software?

2) I have been loving Jim Wendler’s 5/3/1. I haven’t done back squats in a very long time, so I have been having some trouble gauging how much I can lift with them, but I’m getting better. My bench, too, has been consistently getting stronger (in general, not far enough into 5/3/1 to say otherwise).

I was never much of a bench presser until recently. This past week I managed 5 x 90 lbs EASY when I was struggling to get out 3 reps at the same weight a few weeks ago. That would also be my answer if you asked me the question on my tank.

3) I went out last night for the first time in a few weeks. Being on my Whole30, I kept my friends out of trouble played DD. Let me tell you, there was some stellar people watching at Sharkey’s between 11:30PM and12:30AM. I learned that football players/athletes have GREAT asses.

I know this for fact because all of their pants were held up by magic right beneath their glorious glutes. How does gravity not bring them down and what is the point of wearing a belt?

4) I’m really starting to gear up for the grad school transition.

My TA application is in and I am making a trip up north Easter weekend to go look at apartments. Classes start Sept 1, but there is orientation the last week in August before then.

I have my lease here until July 31st, so my plan is to get a place starting in July, move over the course of that month and keep working at my poop lab as long as I can. That will give me a few weeks in August between work and school to play catch-up in my professors lab and learn what is going on.

The whole thing has me scared shitless and I’ve been avoiding thinking about it. Now that the date is approaching (almost exactly 4 months away), reality is setting in.

i have no doubt that you’re going to kick a$$ at the new school and take names at the new lab! i mean, you’ve literally worked in shit, who can top that?

    • http://heyjoob.com Juliet

It’s true. I have worked IN shit. You make a valid point amiga.

Make a women’s fitted-ish tank which says something like “I lift like a girl” or “I lift girl weights” and I’ll buy it. As long as the store ships over here. x

    • http://heyjoob.com Juliet

HMM I want to come up with something cleverer but I’ll work on it. And I’ll look into shipping overseas. <3 <3

I love the idea!! Good luck spending the day designing! I just wasted the entire day on my blog, working on stuff that isn’t even published yet, so I know how you feel haha

LOL YUP. Blogs are life SUCKERS. But it’s so addicting and better to work on this than… I don’t know. Other, worse addictions.

I just noticed that jOOb has a barbell in it now :)

I’d wear a Hey Joob shirt. Or one that was just badass.

    • http://heyjoob.com Juliet

It was my sad attempt at designing round 1. I’ve gotten a better hang of the program I downloaded though and I like the new one better! check it out!

OH man I’ll come up with something good for shirts. I’m diggin’ the dead animal one hahaha.
I’m cracking up over the glutes/pants thing. Homeboys that wear their pants practically at their knees…uhh…how about some squatz bro? (….hm, t-shirt inspiration?)

    I’m starting 5/3/1 tomorrow. boom!

  • Pamann247

Ahaha!! I totally want a Hey Joob shirt!! And panties too just because it’s hilarious!! :-D
That is scary but also exciting about going back to school. I make it a point to do anything I’m scared she*tless of. Not reckless. Just a feeling of rightness when certain tasks are placed in your path. Keeps life full of life! :-)

    • http://heyjoob.com Juliet

I need to come up with something witty to put on the panties. LOL

I’m currently a graduate student at Rutgers (engineering, though). Don’t worry too much, you’ll be fine. I don’t know how things are in your department, but if you already have an advisor and are going to start working in lab right away, you’re way ahead of the game as it is.

My biggest problem with apartment hunting around here was finding a decent apartment that allowed pets. If you need any advice (such as don’t rent from anywhere run by Middlesex Management), send me a message on twitter (@ArabellaDesi) and I’ll give you my email :)
