My First Powerlifting Meet
If I wrote all my thoughts and feelings about everything I experienced this past weekend, it would take ages. Not to mention, you’d be bored after the first paragraph. To that end, I’ll give you the quick recap, a lot of pictures, and some video footage.

SATURDAY:
The meet had 115 competitors. 70 something went on Saturday including the 198 weight class and above. I was with Harold, his friend Kyle, and Erika joined us later in the day. Harold (198) put up SQUAT: 375, BENCH: 290, and DEADLIFT: 440. Kyle (220), with the same total SQUAT: 375, BENCH: 270, and DEADLIFT: 460. The two of them are total monsters. I will outlift them one day.

There was a giant crowd Saturday. Literally. The heavyweights were big – the biggest was 359 lbs.
Ballin’ trophy table.
I weighed in Saturday and made the 148 weight class. Actually, I didn’t, but he gave me a few tenths of a pound. Not that it mattered because I was the heaviest female there and the only other woman in my weight class was doing bench only. One girl asked me if I was competing in the 114 weight class with her. That’s cute. I think my left leg weighs that much.
I also want to point out, I put down some SERIOUS food Saturday. Serious food. Like, I didn’t stop eating and I topped it off with a giant ribeye and mashed potatoes. The day before a meet is no day to be concerned with aesthetics. Herehere!
SUNDAY:
Sunday’s lifters were the women and the remaining light weight men. It was still a lot of fun, but it didn’t have that same intense atmosphere of Saturday. *shrug*I managed a 10 lb squat PR (145), hit a solid bench (105), and hit my previous deadlift PR (255). I was really surprised by my deadlift… I’d been struggling with it for some weeks coming to the meet. Midway through January, I couldn’t even lift 225, but when you watch the video, I make 255 look easy for a max attempt.
300 lbs, you are going to be my bitch this year.
I warmed up for all my lifts by dicking around. This was before my deadlift.
This woman is in her 70′s! It was her first meet and we put up the same total. How freaking badass is that? She’s my hero.
Bootttyyyy
Guess which one of us didn’t get his shirt in time
This is candid. They spent the whole day doing this stuff. They make me feel lazy.

Some mobility stuff and fuckaroundery.
I don’t have that Q&A we promised… we got too swept up in the happenings of the weekend. But we’ll have something else fun for ya’ll in a week or 2!
